Christ Church West Wimbledon is a Church of England congregation, a Christian church, in South-West London, in the Diocese of Southwark.
We are a blend of the traditional and the contemporary, we are an open, inclusive church serving the people of West Wimbledon. In our worship and in our social life we seek to express and share the love of God which is for everyone. We welcome all, regardless of age, ethnicity, sexuality or church background. Exploring together, we journey towards that fullness of life offered to us through Jesus Christ’s self-sacrificing love. A mixture of those who are strong in their faith with others who are filled with questions and doubt, we encourage a willingness to explore our faith and be ready to be surprised by God. Knowing we are loved, we are ready to share our faith with others helping to build peace and justice in the world.

Collect for– First Sunday of Lent
“Heavenly Father, your Son battled with the powers of darkness, and grew closer to you in the desert: help us to use these days to grow in wisdom and prayer that we may witness to your saving love in Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Post Communion Prayer– First Sunday of Lent
“Lord God, you have renewed us with the living bread from heaven; by it you nourish our faith, increase our hope, and strengthen our love: teach us always to hunger for him who is the true and living bread, and enable us to live by every word that proceeds from out of your mouth, through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Green Prayer– First Sunday of Lent
“Father, we pray for all who teach children about you, whether in church or in school. Give them honesty, sincerity and a love for you and for their pupils which will convey the good news of Jesus as strongly as the lessons they teach. We pray too for young people growing up in an unstable and confusing world. Show them that your ways give meaning to life where the ways of the world give none, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish and illusory goals. Help them to take failure not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you and to keep alive their joy in your creation. This we ask in the Name of your Son, Jesus Christ.”
